The application is for up to 15 wind turbines producing up to 45 megawatts of electricity.  The wind farm would supple clean energy to the equivalent of approximately 30,000 homes.

Our applications to Neath and Port Talbot CBC council for the erection of two 60 metre wind measuring masts was approved in May 2006, and these masts are now recording wind data from the site.

The wind farm site lies at the northern end of a broad rounded ridgeline, between the head of the Dulais Valley and the Upper Neath Valley, along the Hirfynydd upland plateau.  The site was previously worked by opencast methods for coal extraction and is now restored mainly to coniferous forestry, with agricultural fields in the east.
