Hirwaun

Pennant Walters has submitted a planning application to Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council for a wind farm on an area covering Mynydd y Gynon and Mynydd Bwllfa to the south of Hirwaun.

The application is for up to 12 wind turbines which would produce up to 36 megawatts of electricity.  It would supply clean energy to the equivalent of approximately 22,000 homes.

The proposed wind farm is located to the south of Hirwaun within Strategic Search Area F defined by the Welsh Assembly Government.  We are the only wind farm operator based within Rhondda Cynon Taff with our parent company, the Walters Group, being a major employer within Hirwaun.
